Skunktroopers International is a non-profit, non-governmental, and a-religious organization united by shared philosophical ideologies and moral orientations under the values of a common Manifesto. These values, which guide our mission and actions, are outlined as follows.

Any experience can become a skunk experience

Any human activity or endeavor can transform into a skunk experience when approached according to the principles of what it means to be "skunk." These unique experiences are defined by the following key principles:

  • Cheap over luxurious: A skunk experience is conducted with minimal expense, often without any cost at all. By nature, it stands in contrast to luxurious or extravagant activities, embracing frugality and resourcefulness.
  • Improvised over planned: A skunk experience is intentionally poorly organized, almost entirely improvised. It unfolds naturally, free from rigid plans or specific expectations, allowing spontaneity to take center stage.
  • Uncomfortable over comfortable: At its core, a skunk experience involves stepping outside one’s bubble and into the unknown. It thrives on exploring new places, meeting unfamiliar people, and embracing experiences yet to be tried. Embracing discomfort paves the way for growth, discovery, and adventure.
  • Memorable over ordinary: A skunk experience is about living fully in the moment, making even the simplest activities unforgettable. It's about creating memories that last.

Definition of skunk

Anyone can be skunk

Living a skunk experience is open to everyone, regardless of time or place. There are no restrictions or prerequisites - you can embrace the skunk way of life whenever you choose.

Skunkpeople seek for each other

Skunktroopers actively seek out fellow skunk people who embrace life’s challenges, pursue new experiences, and live with abundance. No distance is too great or background too different.

Skunktroopers are committed to finding one another across the world, using every available means. When they connect, they create and sustain a vibrant, dynamic community where members constantly uplift and support each other.

Skunktroopers do skunk things

Skunktroopers are committed to exploration, embracing a mindset that thrives on new experiences. Skunktroopers don't wait for the "right moment" because they reject the idea of "right". They create momentum in their lives by minimizing procrastination and hesitation and by just choosing to do things. Many things. Many skunk things!

The concept of skunk providence

Skunktroopers embrace the belief in skunk providence—the idea that the spirit of universal skunkness will guide their decisions and actions throughout their experiences. With this belief, they trust that they will remain safe and will be steered toward new encounters, connecting with fellow Skunkpeople along the way.

Skunk providence means embracing life with an optimistic mindset, thus:

  • Actively seeking the potential for goodness and plenty in every situation – Skunktroopers know that worry and skepticism can lead to procrastination, ultimately resulting in a stagnant existence. They evaluate what can go wrong (in the limit of safety) but then choose to focus on what might instead go right, by adopting a phylosophy of “we'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
  • Actively seek the good in everyone they encounter - Skunktroopers know how to set aside initial impressions and prejudice. They approach new connections with the mindset that each person is a potential friend rather than an adversary.
